On August 8th, before 11:00 in the morning, nearby the Chapel of the Annunciation in Šiluva on the border of the Archdiocese of Kaunas, Our Lady of Czestochowa was being greeted by Sigitas Tamkevičius SJ, the metropolitan of Kaunas, assisted by several priests.

A large group of young people and scouts from Jonava arrived for the greeting ceremony and assisted Our Lady on the way to the Basilica of the Blessed Virgin Mary, where the Archbishop presided over the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

In the afternoon, the Icon of Czestochowa visited the oldest church in Kaunas (Kauno), Vytautas’ the Great Church of the Assumption of The Holy Virgin Mary, near the town cathedral.  The Icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa was brought into the church and placed near the main altar, and meanwhile, the locally beloved Marian songs, accompanied by the nearby cathedral church bells, resounded loudly and joyfully.  Priests, religious nuns and representatives of Catholic religious groups participated in the gathering.  Before the evening Mass, Monsignor V. Grigaravičius gave a presentation about the history of the Icon and the intention of the peregrination through the numerous countries of the world in defense of life.  His Excellency, the Archbishop S. Tamkevicius concelebrated the evening Mass with a large number of priests.  In his homily, Father K. Kėvalas said, "If we peacufully open our hearts to prayer in the intention for the enemies of the culture of life, God will grant them the grace of conversion".  The evening was wrapped up with prayers in the Kaunas Family Center.

In the morning that followed, on the 9th of August, the Icon was transferred to the Cathedral of Ss. Peter and Paul in Kaunas.  Vast crowds of people lined up before Our Lady to touch or kiss the Icon venerating it with individual prayer.  The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass was celebrated by the main presider, Archbishop S. Tamkevičius.  The Icon of Our Blessed Mother was carried to the mobile shrine, while the faithful were singing the famous Ave Maria, and Our Lady was transferred to the neighboring Diocese of Kaišiadorys.
